On Monday May 31st, members from Companies 59 and 66 (Bethel Township Hose Company) participated in two Memorial Day parades and ceremonies to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice protecting our country. The events were organized by VFW Post 6835 and American Legion 811. The first parade was in Concord Township starting at Springwater Plaza and traveling to the Elam Methodist Church. The second parade was in Bethel Township lining up at Briggs Auction and traveling to Siloam Methodist Church. Local veterans spoke at ceremonies after each parade. Students from Garnet Valley High School sang the national anthem and played taps to honor those who did not come home. Both parades were lead by marching veterans along with the Boy and Girl Scout Troops. Antique cars and fire trucks followed behind in silence. Photo credits to original photographers.
